My damn arrest!!!!

This is what happened in my "mistaken" arrest: So, I am driving to class on Northern Avenue, waiting to to take the freeway I-17 southbound, when a cop follows me. I am on the freeway, and then like 4 police cars surround me, and corner me on the damn freeway. They arrest me at gunpoint and shove me against the car to handcuff me. (BTW, I didn't do anything) First of all they insulted me and said, "are you fucking stupid, you don't know how to stop." I see one of them peak at my backpack, and another police officer takes my car. (No Miranda rights/ privacy rights?) They "investigate", and don't let me speak at all!!" Then humorously smiling they said, they mistakenly thought it was my car that was stolen, and I was the robber. (This is bullshit, sorry, I have had the craziest day, some details are missing, but I have to wake up tomorrow early) WHAT DO YOU THINK I SHOULD DO???????

I am going to upload my pictures pretty soon, but I have been booked with tasks and studying for my finals. So, I haven't really had time to settle down and write. This goes way over my promise to you and my principles. I always say that this should be one of my top priorities, because writing is a way of relaxing and meditation. Well I thought I should take the time and advise you all, and I took video of some of the indigenous dances that are preformed.

Shakira in Phoenix!

I was having a close conversation with one of my friends on why the heck did Shakira come to Phoenix; she might be a celebrity, a philanthropist, a community volunteer, but her efforts will not cause a huge stir in this controversial state. A political figure or the president would've caused an uproar, but Shakira, really? We started thinking deeper, because I doubtfully think an artist on top of their career would take that much time to relate her passion for Arizona's need. That's where I'm wrong!
Who else would they choose to advocate and really spread the word? Even though Shakira might be a talented singer, she is an international sensation and a bilingual tool for the Hispanic community. If they choose someone Hispanic/ Latino/ Mexican, but only Spanish speaking, the message will only be spread to non-English protesters, but what advantage will that be? They would help motivate a community that needs a lighthouse in the storm, but there would be only so much progression. If they choose someone that spoke merely English, I don't think people would feel right having someone that doesn't really co-mingle with the Latino community, especially in the language.
This is where Shakira comes in! She can help on both sides of the fence. She can advocate to the whole American country as she makes tours, concerts, etc. At the same time, she can be a motivating figure for the Hispanic community. Her fame is highlighting Arizona even bigger and brighter. If we have more celebrities or political figures that have these qualities, the whole world will see why these celebrities want to help Arizona and expand the cause. I hope SB1070, never comes to effect.

We were there pretty early, but as soon as we got there, people started showing up in large numbers. There was Shakira fans to Civil Right protesters against SB1070.

She closed Van Buren Street and was escorted by the Phoenix Police. She appeared around 4:30pm at Chicanos Por La Causa Maryvale Community Center.
She was quickly mobilized to a secure location where fans couldn't interfere with the meeting involving students and the American dream speech she was to give.
She came out and cameras flooded her!

Before she went inside, she greeted fans, and thanked them for coming to see her and stand by the cause. The cameras did not leave her for an instance, everyone was eager to get a comment by her.
She than said goodbye to her fans and headed inside; many sources said she was going to the Arizona State Capitol to join protesters, but I didn't have the opportunity to go.

These pictures are property of Isaias Soto, please only use them with my permission.

I will post more items about the immigration march this weekend! I am planning to attend.

I am back with a BOOM!

So my main goal is to keep you updated on what is going down in AZ due to the passing of SB1070. At the same time, I might post some personal items such as restaurant experiences or highlights of the city. I want you to see how I see everything. We are all used to having our own perspective on daily actions, but why not dig into someones thoughts and receive a new interpretation of the same image.

I am going to start posting poems, short stories and essays of my daily life to enhance the mechanism of thought between us and hopefully you can share your work and comments too. Taking pictures is going to be essential in demonstrating my work/ life to you, yet I invite you to share some of your colorful glossy canvases by providing your photography. I hope you come to enjoy this page and make it part of your life. Immerse yourself in my city.

Okay, lets now go into the immigration issue before I get carried away. It has been confirmed that Shakira is going to be in Phoenix tomorrow meeting with our mayor, Phil Gordon, to discuss ideas and solutions to the SB1070 to motivate Jan Brewer to put a stop to it before the bill goes into effect.

"Shakira and Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon will discuss their opposition to Arizona's new immigration law during a news conference at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at City Hall, 200 W. Washington St, according to the Mayor's Office.

Around 4:15 p.m., she plans to meet with immigrant families and students at the CPLC Carl Hayden Youth Community Center, 3216 W. Van Buren St, "to discuss how this new law will impact them as they pursue their American Dream.''

On May 1st, there is going to be a nationwide march, I will keep you all updated where it will be. I heard that many political figures and celebrities are attending it on select states and many are planning to make a visit to AZ. Some might argue that the issue is growing obnoxiously fast, but finally the issue is being highlighted as important and something needs to be done asap.

I will post a slide show of my personal pictures of the famous protest on the signing of the bill from Friday, April 23rd, when I get a chance tonight.

You all have a great night!! See you tomorrow!

By the way leave your thoughts and add me.

My first!!

I have been so curious to try this new trend of blogging online, but displaying personal information publicly to the world has never appealed to me. In this blog, I am going to display my opinions on life and pop culture. I might be selfish and display a current event of my own life and share it with you once in a while. I am going to do my best to log on everyday, so you can catch glimpses of how I see life. Well here is a little information about me, if you do not know me yet. My name is Isaias Soto. I live in Phoenix, Arizona. I am currently 18 years old and attending Arizona State University. My study centralization is Journalism/ Broadcasting and media analysis. I have some personal goals which I will talk in a future date about, but overall I am a pretty fun guy. Add me on Myspace or Facebook! I am not a big twitter fan, so you won't find me there!
